Wholesale Energy October 2018

Wholesale Prices

From a starting point of $85 we saw October 2018 prices fall back to $75 primarily due to the a report by the International Monetary Policy who have given a gloomy outlook for global growth.

The value of the £ against the $ slipped to a 12 month low after starting the month at $1.30 to rise to $1.32 only to see the final month end trade of $1.27. Again the main driving forces behind this are the uncertainties with the Brexit negotiations currently taking place.

Energy again traded in-line primarily with the Oil curves with April 2019 annual contracts finishing at £60MWh from a starting point of £64MWh and far side October 2020 contracts shaving back to £51/MWh from an opening £54/MWh.
